Anti-Aging System
Why Does Your Skin Age?
There are two factors that affect the aging of the skin: extrinsic and intrinsic. Intrinsic or internal aging is biological aging that occurs with the passing of time. Extrinsic or external aging is the natural process of biological aging compiled with exterior causes such as sun exposure, air pollution, smoking, lifestyle, cosmetics and other allergens and lack of care. Although both internal and external conditions affect the appearance of the skin, outside influences have considerable long-term effects in terms of wrinkles and photo aging. The most damaging of all of these is sunlight. In fact, it has been said that ninety percent of the aging of your skin is due totally to sun damage. If this is true, think of the control one has as to how much the skin actually shows age.
Rhonda Allison's Anti-Aging program is preventative as well as restorative. It is possible to reverse the signs of aging and improve sun-damaged skin. The first step is skin preparation -cleanse and exfoliate, secondly, rebuild and strengthen - AHAs, Retinal (Vitamin A), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) next it is important to nourish and support - antioxidants, epidermal growth factor, vitamins, and minerals. Finally, the skin must have moisture, hydration, and protection from the environment - daytime and nighttime moisturizers and sun blocks.
A healthy, beautiful skin is a moist skin. Think about an animal's hide, it is supple until the moisture is removed, and then you have leather! Preventative skin care and age management is the most beneficial way to preserve the healthy skin we were born with.
Skin Brightening System
Hyper-pigmentation is a condition that can happen to all skin types, from oily to dry. It is excessive production of melanin in the skin that results in an uneven, darkened skin tone. There are many causes for hyper-pigmentation and uneven skin tone and there are different depths of damage in the skin. Systemic pigmentation is damage at the cellular level and has affected the cell itself. This is very difficult to correct at a superficial level and sometimes even the most aggressive medical treatments will not be able to eliminate the problem. Surface pigmentation, epidermal stimulation is generally more successfully treated. However, much can be done to overall brighten and lighten skin and protect from further damage. Beware of overuse of products that contain hydroquinone. This ingredient is in many over the counter brightening products and the skin may develop a resistance or immunity to it or may begin to darken skin even more.
Two main factors that affect hyper-pigmentation are thye sun and heat! So wear an SPF30 at all times and stay COOL! Rhonda Allison's Skin Brightening System is designed for all skin types and provides a variety of choices to customize for specific needs.
Acne Skin System
About 89% of the population experiences acne in some form or another. There are many types of acne, the most common being Acne Vulgaris that occurs in the adolescent years. Hormonal acne normally begins for women in the thirties, but can start as early as twenty. What these two types have in common is that the sebaceous activity is related to hormones, the onset of hormonal activity at puberty and an imbalance of hormones later in life.
Acne is a treatable disease that results in inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions. Medically, the cause of acne is unknown with no real cure. Some theorize there is a root cause that may stem from hormonal imbalance, psychological aspects, nutrient deficiencies, and genetics. For genetically prone sufferers this means a lifetime regimen of daily home care.
Stress - This is the number one factor affecting acne. Stress stimulates the adrenal glands and for women this can be a problem because some male hormones are produced in the adrenal glands. Since men produce naturally higher levels of testosterone, surges of it from stress have less of an affect on acne. Usually flare ups occur about 14 days following a stress response. Pyoderma faciale is the most extreme type of stress-produced acne.
Nutrition - Avoid foods with iodides - salts, processed foods, fast foods, excessive dairy, soy sauce, MSG, alcohol, caffeine, and some drugs are a trigger to existing acne conditions. Drink 6-8 glasses of pure water every day. Although there is no scientific evidence to support that nutrition is the cause of acne, it can have an effect on existing acne conditions.
Hormones - Hormones affect acne and specifically testosterone stimulates the development of sebaceous follicles and attached oil glands. This is a factor during adolescence when hormones are very active. The fluctuation of hormones during menses accounts for acne flare-ups. It is the increase of progesterone that aggravates acne conditions in genetic vulnerable women. Increased estrogen generally relieves acne, which is why physicians will prescribe birth control pills.
Picking & Touching - Improper squeezing and inept extractions will rupture the follicle wall and cause bacteria to spread. Touching irritates skin and breeds bacteria from fingers and hands.
Drying - Overuse of very drying skin care products will cause the sebaceous glands to produce more oil.
Excessive & Abrasive Scrubbing -Over cleansing will stimulate the production of sebum in the follicle and worsen acne conditions. The formation of acne begins with sebum.
Cosmetics - Fragrances, dyes, and preservatives are irritating to sensitive and acne prone skins and should be avoided.
Skin Irritants - Soap powders (all-natural fragrance free is best), fabric softeners, shampoos, conditioners, hairsprays, etc. are all irritants to existing acne conditions.
